ETHNIC HAIR CARE
||Growing Relaxed/Permed Hair
Lye relaxer hold more moisture than no-lye relaxers. Both relaxers/perms are harsh on your hair , however, your hair can still be in good condition.
If you are using a relaxer to grow out your Afro textured hair, you'll need a lot of moisture and as less heat as possible. Try wet setting your hair periodically. Use a heat guard every time you use heat on your hair to keep a shine and healthy look to your hair.
||FLAT IRONING CREME™ 16.0z
Formulated for Relaxed or Natural Ethnic Textured Hair keeps moisture in your relaxed hair and gives a salon shine that lasts all day.
Wet Set Your Hair Periodically
Set your hair
If you decide to dry your hair under a dome dryer
Cold air is to set.
Hot air is to curl.
Air drying is better for your hair, however, if your hair is in good condition the heat will not harm your hair if not done too often. Use a heat guard before you use heat on your hair.
Try deep conditioning your hair once a week or every 2 weeks to keep your relaxed hair in good condition. Always use a heat guard on your hair when using heat.
Protect Your New Growth
If your hair length is on your shoulders, wear it off the shoulders to avoid friction on your clothes (collar) so that your hair will not break off during the growing stages.

Using Braid Extensions to Grow Your Hair
You can grow your hair longer using braid extensions whether you have a no lye or lye relaxer. You'll have to keep moisture in your braid extensions by using braid spray. The African Royale BRX Braid and Extensions Sheen Spray is a good braid spray for braid extensions.
Before you start, your hair must be in good condition. You can wear the extensions for 2 months at a time. You can even shampoo the extensions.
Deep condition at least 2 -- 4 weeks---once a week, with a good protein conditioner.
How To Condition
Hair Before Applying Braid Extensions
Apply conditioner on clean damp hair, placing a plastic cap (processing cap) over your hair and sitting under a hooded dryer for 30-60 minutes. If you do not have a hooded dryer, then wrap a towel around the plastic cap for 2 hours, If you have a heating cap, put the heating cap on over the processing cap. for 30 minutes. You can also use a hair steamer for 30 minutes. Rinse out conditioner and use a reputable leave-in strengthener. Infusium 23 is an excellent hair strengthener.
Reminder:**** If you have a natural Afro--4a 4b, hair, do not use a heating cap or hair steamer unless you have AFRO DETANGLER™ readily available since the coil of your hair will be too tight to comb through. SEE AFRO DETANGLER.
Is My Hair In Condition Yet?
Take the Strand Test.
Test the strands in the most vulnerable areas:
Near the nape of the neck, right in the center back of your crown, and right above the ears. Hold a couple of hair strands and slightly stretch. Allow the strand to slowly spring back. The strands should not snap. If these strands spring back, then your hair has elasticity. Your strands are in good condition.

To Prolong Your Braid Extenions Style
To prolong your extension style, you can shampoo your braid extesnions by sponge washing or wearing a nylon snood cap while shampooing.
Braid Style To Wear To Grow Your Hair
Plaits braids, which are also called individual braids, twists, bantu knots, your narural hair in braids, and cornrows. ***Cornrows that are extensions should only remain in your hair for 2 weeks at a time because these braids become severely matted if left in longer.
Size of The Braids
To grow your hair with less difficulty create braids no smaller than a pencil. This medium sized braid would be easier to take out. Those with finer/delicate hair shouild wear cornrows or use the wig regimen.
Parts for braid extensions should be a half inch to an inch. People with finer delicate hair should make parts around the hair line smaller so that their will be no tension. The extended hair attached securely to the scalp. not tightly pulled up from the scalp. Avoid excessive products near the base of the scalp. Spray braid spray on your scalp once a week, however, spray the braid spray on your braids as often as necessary.
Time It Takes
7-18 hours depending on the size of the braids to complete a full set of braid extensions.
How Long To Keep The Braid Extensions Style
From 2 months at a time if you're braiding to grow the hair.
Type of Extended Hair
100% kanekalon Fiber hair.
Shampooing your braid Extensions
See the SHAMPOO REGMEN. Shampoo your braid extensions in the shower the following day so that the style will fall into place naturally.
To saturate your braid extensions thoroughly with braid spray and a hair strengthener, add the products to a bowl and sponge on thoroughly with a sea sponge.
Taking Out Braid Extensions Without Damaging Your Hair
These are braid extensions that have been worn for 2 months.
After you have unraveled the braid extension and taken them out sections at a time, you may be left with build up if you have put too much product on the base of the extension (scalp area).
|Here is a way to remove the extension so you'll have less knotting.
Pull strands from the side of the build up.
This amount of shedding hair is normal if you have worn the extensions for 2 months.

Ready To Apply A Perm (optional)
After you've been in braids 1-2 months.
You HAVE to deep condition your hair 30-60 minutes per week for 2 months or 4 weeks by applying a good protein conditioner.
IMPORTANT: After your hair has been deep conditioned for 30-60 minutes per week for 2 -4 weeks, check your hair strands for elasticity.
Test Your Hair For Elasticity (SEE STRAND TEST ABOVE)
After deep conditioning, if your hair is in good condition, apply the relaxer ONLY TO THE NEW GROWTH. Never apply a relaxer to the old hair, it will somehow began to break off the older hair. (I prefer LYE RELAXERS because these have more moisture in them. Maybe the no-lye relaxers have more moisture by now but I don't believe they do yet. I only apply the relaxer to the new growth. Don't relax your hair if you don't know how. Have a professional aaply the LYE relaxer only to the new growth.
KEEP IN MIND TO DEEP CONDITION YOUR HAIR FIRST FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE YOU APPLY RELXER TO THE NEW GROWTH AND HAVE ELASTICITY IN YOUR STRANDS.
